The recently renovated castle is located in Sângeorgiu de Mureș, about 7 km from Târgu Mureș.

On the top of Sângeorgiu de Mureș commune, in a beautiful setting, lies the two-storey castle of the Máriaffy family, built in 1870.
The castle was owned by the Petki family from Szeklerland until the first half of the 19th century and in 1817 it became the property of the Máriaffy family. At the end of the 19th century, the castle was renovated in an eclectic style and the construction works were executed by master mason Soós Pál from Târgu Mureș. The castle has a symmetrical structure, both façades of the building measuring 28 meters, with an ornate appearance offered by the windows framed by shutters and cornices. The main façade, with a porch supported by arches, adorned with pillars with a Corinthian-style capital, overlooks the river Mureș.
Currently, Máriaffy Castle is the property of Sângeorgiu de Mureș City Hall, which intends to introduce it in the tourist circuit, after completing the rehabilitation works.
