ADEPT Cycling Path

The ADEPT bike trail is the first mountain bike trail in the country of its kind, linking the Saxon villages around Sighisoara, with the aim of promoting natural, cultural and historical landscapes that are unique in Europe. The trail was built by the ADEPT Foundation in Saschiz, in Mureș county in 2011 with Norwegian and Swiss grants and has developed along the way, now reaching 100 km. The trail crosses landscapes with high natural value, but also alleys of old villages and courtyards of fortified churches. The network includes the villages of Viscri - Bunești - Criț - Meșendorf - Cloașterf - Saschiz - Archita - Daia, with the final point in Sighișoara. This project has laid the foundations for sustainable tourism in the area, through which one can discover the charm of the Saxon villages, while providing infrastructure for organising many community development events, such as the Transilvania Bike Trails Race or Brunch & Bike.
