About the film:
Hungarian Wedding
Hungarian Wedding is set in the late 1970s. Two young men from Budapest, András and Péter, travel to Kalotaszeg to attend the wedding of András’s cousin. What begins as a village celebration soon turns into a life-changing adventure. The two young men must make decisions whose consequences are unpredictable…
The film unites the power of folk music, dance, and love through the magical language of cinema—at once a love story, a cultural journey, and a tribute to the life’s work of Ferenc Novák “Tata.”
The music-and-dance production features Franciska Törőcsik, Tamás Kovács, Zsombor Kövesi, and Anna Györgyi, alongside legendary artists such as Márta Sebestyén, Ferenc Sebő, the Muzsikás Ensemble, István Pál “Szalonna,” Zoltán Farkas “Batyu,” and performers of the Hungarian National Dance Ensemble. Choreography by Zoltán Zsuráfszky, Zsuzsa Zs. Vincze, and Gábor Mihályi.
Described by Magyar Nemzet as “the love child of the Hunyadi series and How Could I Live Without You?,” the film was produced with the support of the MOL – New Europe Foundation, in co-production with MTVA and Supermodern Studio, without financial contribution from the National Film Institute.
