We conclude this year with Vivaldi's Four Seasons series with the Winter Concerto, invoking the wisdom of old age. Vivaldi's beautiful harmonies, as before, move deeper spiritual and emotional layers in the listeners. I will tell you about them.
Freedom, youth, joy of life, rhythm, music, and the sounds and noises of the big city, this is the soul of the Blue Rhapsody. I play this every time I sit at the keys. We must imagine the hysterical America of the post-World War I years as its birth environment. The audience always expected new works, records in its uncontrollable desire for liberation and entertainment, and Gershwin was among those who cleverly catered to but also directed average taste.
The great English composer Gustav Holst, who inspired numerous legendary Hollywood film scores like Star Wars and Gladiator with his suite The Planets, was born 150 years ago. The NEW RECORD released this year is the 4th disc of the Lords of the Organ series and presents three movements from the masterpieces. Among them, the expansive, creative, Lord of the Gods, the largest planet, the Jupiter movement will be played in the concert.
Bach's intimate and uplifting music, "Adorn Yourself, Oh Dear Soul," was written exactly 300 years ago in 1724. Why not listen to it! I will play it while you listen.
