In 1926, one hundred years ago, the Helikon community was born at the castle of Jรกnos Kemรฉny in Brรขncoveneศ™ti. It would go on to become one of the defining intellectual and cultural centres of Hungarian life in Transylvania. The name โ€œErdรฉlyi Helikonโ€ (Transylvanian Helikon) is primarily associated with literature, yet its history is also closely intertwined with the visual arts.
A century later, the ๐‡๐ž๐ฅ๐ข๐ค๐จ๐ง ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ exhibition places this special relationship at the centre of attention: the cultural milieu in which literature and the visual arts, inspiring one another and engaging in dialogue, contributed to shaping the artistic character of interwar Transylvania.
The exhibition evokes the visual heritage of Transylvanian Helikon through more than
Portraits, caricatures, prints, illustrations, paintings and sculptures bring the world of the Helikon community to life, while also offering an insight into the rich literary, publishing and visual culture of the ๐„๐ซ๐๐žฬ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ข ๐‡๐ž๐ฅ๐ข๐ค๐จ๐ง periodical and the ๐„๐ซ๐๐žฬ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ข ๐’๐ณ๐žฬ๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ขฬ๐ฏ๐ž๐ฌ ๐‚๐žฬ๐ก publishing house.
