The protagonist of Valan – Valley of Angels is Péter (Krisztik Csaba), a big-city police officer investigating human traffickers in Brașov. He dedicates his life to finding missing girls. In every girl he rescues, he sees, somewhere deep inside, his own sister, Juli. Juli disappeared without a trace twenty-two years earlier in their hometown, Valan, which was thrown into chaos during the Romanian Revolution.
After receiving a phone call, Péter is forced to return to the Transylvanian mining town when suspicion arises that his sister’s body has been found among the snow-covered pine forests. In the labyrinth of an investigation that leads him back into the past, he must confront not only the crime suffocating the town, but also his own inner demons.
