THIS IS HOW I SEE IT - MIKLÓS TOMPA TELLS A STORY
theatre performance based on László Bérczes' interview book Székely körvasút
Miklós Tompa tells his story: he talks inexorably, colourfully, experientially about the defining stories of his life, the history he lived, people who were important and whom he kept in his memory, and of course about the theatre - his main goal: to create a permanent theatre culture in the underprivileged Szeklerland. And these stories are good to watch and listen to because they speak to us personally, because they are part of our lives: of the region, of the city where we live, of our families, of our own.
Miklós Tompa told his story to László Bérczes in the early nineties, and this is how the book of interviews entitled Székely körvasút (The Székely Roundabout) was born.
The discussion book, and thus the performance inspired by it, is also a document of contemporary history, as it deals with the history of the theatre's foundation in 1945-1946, as well as the important stages of the career of the artist, who also determined the grand realist line of theatre culture in Târgu Mures and Szeklerland. The founder-director of the Székely Theatre is played by UNITER award-winner Csaba László.
In the 2024/2025 season, the National Theatre of Târgu Mures will celebrate its 80th season, and this production is a tribute to its founder and a great artist. The production, which will be presented in December 2023, is intended by the Tompa Miklós Company as a precursor and overture to the series of festivities planned for the jubilee season.
