Savanta Conspiracy after Urmuz (dir. Marius Oltean)

Adaptation by Marius Oltean after “Ismail and Turnavitu” by Urmuz
“If you don’t do politics, you have no perspective. You’ll starve with a liberal profession if there’s no institution behind you.”
Urmuz’s prose comes to life on stage in an adaptation by Marius Oltean. The theatrical approach preserves the author’s unusual humor and experimental inventiveness, but brings to light aspects, narrative threads and ideas which, in the original text, may confuse or unsettle the reader.
“Savanta Conspiracy” presents a political adventure in which unpredictability, duplicity, adulation, the lure of power and betrayal are the key elements.
In this distorted world, politics is nothing more than a springboard toward social climbing, and the rules of the game are inflexible: those who do not conform meet an ugly end. Sounds strangely familiar, doesn’t it?
