Jazz arrangements of Béla Bartók's works
Sárik Péter Trio: Péter Sárik (piano), Tibor Fonay (double bass), Attila Gálfi (drums)
The Sárik Péter Trio released their first album of Bartók arrangements in 2018, which was presented at the Liszt Academy Grand Hall. Since then, the program has been performed in 15 countries worldwide, achieving great success from Finland to Kazakhstan and all the way to China. The CD received the Fonogram Award for "Jazz Album of the Year" in 2020, and the concert version released in 2022 was nominated for the same recognition in 2023. Now they are presenting the latest album in this series. "We have come a long way with Bartók. When the first CD was released, our primary goal was to make this music loved by those who had previously been wary of it, and also to play Bartók in jazz venues where it would otherwise be unthinkable. I am happy to see that both of our goals have been achieved. We have performed over a hundred concerts, and wherever we went, the program was received with love and enthusiasm. But perhaps the greatest experience was when at a summer festival, the audience lying in the grass suddenly jumped up and started dancing to the 'Topogóra.' I think even Bartók would have smiled then."
