PIAZZOLLA (Recital for piano and bandoneon)

Dec-03

3 december 2025
PIAZZOLLA – this recital is dedicated to the great composer Astor Piazzolla and his exceptional creative genius, the artist who opened the path for tango nuevo. A brilliant composer and an accomplished pianist, Piazzolla remained faithful to his great love, the bandoneon – a beautiful instrument with a plaintive, unmistakable sound, without which tango would not possess the same soul.
Astor Piazzolla’s compositions transcend the golden age of Buenos Aires tango and place the new genre, tango nuevo, on the world’s musical map. Enriched with classical and jazz influences while preserving the traditional spirit, his works are deeply emotional and expressive.
We therefore invite you to listen to the perfect harmonic blend of piano and bandoneon in some of Piazzolla’s most beautiful pieces, such as “Oblivion”, “Adios Nonino”, “Libertango”, as well as the lesser-known “Soledad”, “Milonga sin Palabras”, or “Cite Tango”.
Performing artists:
IRINA INDREI – piano
– teacher at the “Sigismund Toduță” Music College, répétiteur for the ballet company of the Hungarian Opera of Cluj-Napoca, and PhD candidate at the “Gheorghe Dima” Academy of Music in Cluj-Napoca.
ROBERT INDREI – bandoneon
Graduate of the Faculty of Music in Bucharest, he is the only Romanian musician who performs on the bandoneon within an Argentine tango orchestra. He studies bandoneon with maestro Ayelen Pais from Buenos Aires.
The two artists form a couple both in daily life and on stage, and have been performing together for more than ten years. They have played at the invitation of the Royal House at Peleș Castle, on the stages of national philharmonics, and at Argentine tango festivals in Romania and abroad. They also perform in Vienna, Munich, and at the annual Argentine Tango Ball in Budapest.
They are founding members of the “Cluj Tango Orchestra” Association, which collaborates with the Romanian National Opera of Cluj-Napoca and the Embassy of the Argentine Republic in Romania.
In 2025 they are invited as soloists by the Satu Mare State Philharmonic for the “Libertango” performance, and by the Brașov Philharmonic for the concert “Tan-gó”, alongside mezzo-soprano Iulia Merca.
Argentine tango is part of UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage and is considered a universal phenomenon.
The host of this recital is the Palace of Culture in Târgu Mureș (Small Hall), one of the city’s cultural landmarks, which needs no further introduction.
Tickets for this recital are limited to ensure the smooth organisation of the event and can be purchased exclusively online via iabilet.ro.
