Perfumery (HU)

Apr-16

The theatre will close the year 2023 with a true Christmas hit, one of its most popular productions, the romantic comedy The Perfumery. Miklós László's enchantingly comic love story, written in 1937, is a success story in America after his career in Hungary, and is preserved in film adaptations and theatre productions known throughout the world.
A downtown Budapest drugstore in the 1930s, in the midst of the Christmas craze. Yet the celebration of love seems reluctant to come to fruition, as the desires of the shop's employees, like scents, circulate uncontrollably in the air, confusing everyone. They are all searching for happiness in the tangled web of love: some for excitement, some for reassurance. Their love letters take them to a distance that could not be closer.
The basic story is supplemented with humour from the most outstanding artists of Hungarian theatre: the audience is treated to an updated version of the Mohácsi brothers, directed by János Mohácsi.
