Medieval Sighișoara Festival
Jul-24
The Municipality of Sighișoara invites residents and visitors to take part in the 31st edition of the "Sighișoara Medieval Festival", Romania's oldest medieval festival, taking place from July 24 to 26, 2026.**
For three days, the **Medieval Citadel of Sighișoara** will host concerts, medieval combat demonstrations, medieval music, theatre and dance performances, street entertainment, and activities for all ages.
The festival's main stage will be located in **Citadel Square (Piața Cetății)**, where audiences will enjoy performances by **Țăndărică & Keo & Alina**, **Trooper**, as well as **Mircea Baniciu**, **Florin Săsărman**, and **Adrian Ivanițchi**.
One of this year's new features is a dedicated children's area, located near the **Sighișoara City Hall**. This space will offer interactive activities and workshops, historical board games, theatre and percussion performances, stilt walkers, living statues, and jesters. The program has been specially designed for children and families looking to spend the three festival days together.
Throughout the streets and **Citadel Square**, visitors will encounter knights, noble ladies, minstrels, drummers, and other medieval characters who will bring the citadel to life over the course of the festival. This year's participants include **Mercenarii din Asserculis**, **Toboșarul Cetății Sighișoara (The Citadel Drummer)**, **Silentium – The Citadel Watchman and His Guard**, **Cavalerii Codrilor (Knights of the Forests)**, **Christian and Toni Haiducu** with their two horses, **Peregrinii (The Pilgrims)**, **The Ladies of the 31st Seal (Domnițele Sigiliului XXXI)**, **Funny Art**, **Breslele Unite (The United Guilds)**, and **Compania Dragonului (The Dragon Company)**.
This year's edition also marks a premiere with medieval combat demonstrations by the **Debreceni Történelmi Korok Hagyományőrző Egyesület** from Hungary, a historical reenactment group participating in the **Sighișoara Medieval Festival** for the first time.
Another new attraction is the gastronomic area in **Piața Rățuștelor (Ducklings' Square)**, featuring a medieval picnic, a medieval tavern, and a local gastronomy workshop.
The host of this year's festival will be **Dan Negru**.
**Admission to the Sighișoara Medieval Festival is free of charge.**
The full program for all three festival days will be published soon on the Municipality's official website and on the **Sighișoara City Hall Facebook page**.
