Invisible holidays - performance by the Maros Art Ensemble
"And it is not only the calendar that has a red letter day. Life also brings other kinds of invisible holidays." Sándor Márai
Mihály Dresch, a prominent figure of Hungarian ethno-jazz, Kossuth and Liszt Ferenc Prize winner, Distinguished and Merited Artist, will celebrate his 70th birthday in 2025.
On the occasion of this special event, the idea was born to create a performance of music by the Dresch Quartet, Dresch String Quartet, mainly focusing on the female soul/being.
Just as authentic Hungarian folk music and jazz meet in Dresch's music, the performance Invisible Holidays combines elements of folk dance and contemporary dance.
As female creators, we attempt to show the importance, beauty and power of female rituals.
In the performance, we want to capture the intimate, hidden rituals of successive ceremonies, the highlights of the holiday and everyday life.
Director-choreographer: Hortenzia Lőrincz
Co-choreographer: Zsófia Horváth
Music by Mihály Dresch
Costume design by Borbála Petri-Kiss Winkler
Set design by Beáta Sós
