The trilingual production (Hu, Ro, Eng) explores the search for self-identity in a form steeped in wry humor and sarcasm. The central theme of the play is the complex family dynamic, the process of coming to terms with the past and the emotional and generational burden the characters carry with them. The characters approach expectations within the family from different perspectives, the conflict between conformity and independence. What does it mean to be a good mother? What does it mean to be a mother? "There are fat, thin, tall people, and we see them as differences. But when a mom can't be a mom, we feel it's a mistake. You know, that fear that I can't connect with her, that she can't connect with me." Four and a Half is a personal journey that reflects on both individual destinies and the universal questions of humanity, all expressed through the medium of theater. Four and a Half is a self-reflexive theatrical production that draws its inspiration from the actors' own stories. This play is not only a presentation of family stories, but also a documentation of the difficulties of searching for a creative path, interweaving personal experiences with artistic expression.
