SÁNDOR CSOÓRI: THE REALISM OF THE SOUL
Sándor Csoóri was a Hungarian poet, essayist, prose writer, and politician, honoured with the title Artist of the Nation and twice awarded both the Kossuth Prize and the József Attila Prize.
“What is folk poetry?” – asks Csoóri in his essay Sea and Walnut Leaf. He offers several possible answers. One of them reads:
Many have already responded – poets and scholars alike. Their wise and ceremonious explanations blend together in my mind as if heard in a half-dream.
Many have already responded – poets and scholars alike. Their wise and ceremonious explanations blend together in my mind as if heard in a half-dream.
“Folk poetry is the people's primordial, tradition-born poetry.”
At the performance, excerpts from the essays of Sándor Csoóri will be recited by Angéla Császár, while Andrea Navratil will perform songs, Tokos Ensemble will play music, and Appelshoffer János, István Berecz, Hanga Borbála Kacsó, Tünde Rémi, and the dancers of Bekecs Dance Theatre will take the stage.
