Cycling through architectural gems
Following the success of previous editions, Visit Mureș is once again organizing the Castles Cycling Tour, a unique event aimed at promoting the built heritage of Mureș County, sustainable tourism, and alternative mobility such as cycling and rail travel.
The proposed route for this third edition highlights iconic castles along the Upper Mureș Valley, a region often compared to France’s renowned Loire Valley due to the density and beauty of its historic buildings. Although some of the castles are in various states of disrepair, events like this play a crucial role in raising awareness of their cultural value and encouraging the development of a network of tourism-related services around them.
Proposed Route (~55 km):
- Reghin – Artesian Fountain
- Farkas Manor
- Apalina – Huszár Castle (ruins)
- Breaza
- Voivodeni – Zichy Castle
- Glodeni – Teleki Castle
- Arrival in Târgu Mureș, on the banks of the Mureș River
Along the way, expect a few surprise moments!
The event is open to the public, but participation is limited to 40 people for road safety reasons.
