The evenings are suffocating in the Venetian summer, where young people desire one another beyond words. Yet without their fathers’ approval, marriage is out of the question. Civil morality hovers above them like a guardian over the passion that quietly ignites. “Of course, no harm can come from a few lies or a bit of opportunism.”
 This is what the charming Lelio believes, a master of improvisation—especially when it comes to winning women’s hearts. However, after a while, the clever turns of phrase, the countless titles, and the spectacular—yet entirely invented—adventures from his past begin to tangle in an irreversible knot. Even if the emotions behind his intentions are genuine, the cathedral of lies soon becomes so monumental that nothing can prevent its collapse.
